HOLIDAY MOUNTAIN are a funky little quartet who specialize in vaguely psychedelic pop. Their slithering sound is hard to pin down, what with the crazy range of vocalist Laura Patino, those heavy organ grooves that recall the best of 60’s rock, noisey synths and all too catchy guitar rhythms that careen from standard indie pop to sunny reggae. Let’s just say they keep the audience bouncing on their toes. Unfortunately, as happens all too often in this transient city, this singular band will soon depart for a new home in Austin, TX. But they’re going out with a bang, playing for 2 1/2 hours at the ICA, including old hits, several cuts from their latest LP Become Who You Are. They will be accompanied by a brass section to fill out their floral sound. It’s hard to imagine a better way to spend such a stunning summer afternoon than along the serene Boston waterfront, nor a better send off for these fun loving popsters. Wish them bon voyage this afternoon, and don’t forget to pick up their finely produced new LP.
