Ya ever been to the MAGIC ROOM? It’s this lil secret performance space tucked away in a forgotten no-mans land between Brighton and Allston. Every so often they host unique shows full of color, delight, and sweet, sweet eye candy courtesy of a revolving array of kaleidoscopic projections. Haven’t heard much ’em from this year, but TONIGHT, in anticipation of the return to the fall season, they’ve got a delightful exhibition of mellifluous sounds for our general amusement. FLAVOR CRYSTALS hail from Minneapolis, that bustling hive alive with a resurgence of krautrock, shoegaze, space synths and so on, and they bring the best of those psychedelic sounds in a sleek, tight package that quickly unfurls into a beautiful, expansive horizon. Fellow Midwest weirdos CHATHAM RISE channel a similar vibe, but perhaps a bit more mellow and structured. 28 DEGREES TAURUS rep Boston with sweet psych pop grooves. Its hard to have a bad trip when the atmospheres dripping with positive energies. So drop by and drop out in this electric eden nestled in the nether regions of Brighton’s backside.
