GO TO: APACHE DROPOUT, KRILL, COURTERS, BEACH COPS @ CRAFTS HOUSE (TUFTS)

by

There’s no denying it: Today we have a veritable deluge of awesome rock shows happening all around town. Perhaps you’re already suffering from crushing anxiety over the sheer amount of choice, so let’s make it even worse and throw on one more show on the slathering heap of blueberry pancakes that is this friday night smorgasbord. AppleJam has thrown together a super-charged lineup of fun-bopin’ foot-stompin’ garage rock for us airheads tonight at the Crafts House, a community art house and part-time venue located on Tufts campus. This is something of a homecoming for the short-totting kids in KRILL, who warmed the cockles of Boston’s collective heart last spring with their emotionally resonant pop-rock songs. Full of infectious swirling hooks, tempo-jumping drums, and gruff, smart vocals, KRILL channel 90’s earnest alternative attitude without a hint of revivalism. Wish ’em luck on their first national, kickstartr-funded tour. But let not one band overshadow a show, as Bloomington’s APACHE DROPOUT are also celebrating their tour kickoff with fuzzy low-down garage pop grooves sounding right out of a Nuggets compilation. Also on deck are the crunchy gutter gronk blues of COURTERS and (what we imagine is) the breezy surf-punk stylings of BEACH COPS. Expect a lot of bobbing and shaking and general merry-making at this show. So, did we make your choice any easier?
