A recent video from some of my favorite footwork based musical output of the last year, PAISLEY PARKS‘ 6ho§†. That album, from the Japanese entity based in Yokohama is bent and twisted, stuttering without fail as it staggers from improbable groove to improbable groove. And this is no known entity electronic dance music producers shifting gears to blend in the Chicago area style (they’d be grotesquely late for that on the light speed mutation schedule of electronic dance music). This is seemingly earnest enthusiasts adopting the sounds, and the dance moves of a movement happening (that happened?) on the other side of planet earth, and yes making it their own. And now we have it, and it’s a wild take on footwork, rife with samples, and other electronic sounds. “G.H.O.S.T.” hits us with a string laden sample and a cameo by some Ghostbusters wear right off the bat. Then it’s Demi and footwork in the cemetery. It stutters along and we get some nasty synth and a big handful of birds flipped by gloved hands (some skeleton gloved). I especially enjoy the dancing by the guy chained to a pole in the cemetery. Just some of the weirdest mutant dance music. Thank you Chicago. Thank you Japan.
