Gabe Gill (feat. Connis): “When You’re Asleep”

Gabe Gill, the Northampton native known for blending a myriad of genres with the same ease as a Batman movie making money, re-enters the fold with a gorgeously-layered synthesis of pop, R&B, soul, alternative, and sprinkles of jazz on his new song with talented Cambridge artist Connis, “When You’re Asleep.”

The duo merges their silky sweet melodies with harmonious ease, creating a swirling dreaminess like a soft serve ice cream cone on a sweltering day.

Connis and Gill  make words always feel ambiguous, as evidenced through their pensive songwriting. “Don’t know how to stick around when you’re feeling stuck,” Connis cleverly muses atop the luminous piano keys and majestic saxophone flourishes (Connis also produces the track). Gill fills these gorgeous contours with his own vivid sequencing and heady inflections, entrancing the listener like a sunset does in Santa Monica with imagery of snow-bleached skin and other fanciful descriptions. Together, the duo’s feelings and observations are as vast as their words. Listen to the track below.
