Sounding a lot like a pop spiked early 80s/late 70s post-punk gem(and thus something like Boston’s own defunct THE MULES, which featured Doug from MMOSS on guitar) Madison, WI’s TRIN TRAN sounds great, and make music that is a lot fun and steeped in very cool sounds. Nasty low budget synths interact with very minimal drums and jagged fuzzy guitars here, and the whole thing is being manned by just one fellow, one Steve Coombs. He has a new record coming out called DARK RADAR and it’s going to be the first release on Ty Segall’s new label GOD?. That should bode well, for TRIN TRAN’s chances out there in the world I would think. DARK RADAR was apparently recorded in 2002 and 2003 and released on CD-R and then lost to time, until Segall became interested I guess. Nothing like second chances. Not sure of forthcoming new recordings…
