It’s been a little while since we’ve heard anything new from LIQUOR STORE, but I don’t mind because I’m still not sick of “YEAH BUDDY“, their debut LP that came out a couple years ago on ALMOST READY RECORDS. LIQUOR STORE is the brainchild of Sarim Al-Rawi, a guy with a fucked up sense of humor and a knack for writing epic rock n roll songs. He once claimed that LIQUOR STORE was originally supposed to be a CRASS cover band with all of the songs remade to be about selling drugs and smoking weed, but clearly they’ve gone in another direction. I think every time I’ve seen this band, they’ve played with a different number of guitarists, I seem to remember there being four of them last time but it’s totally possible that there were five. I have a hard time describing what LIQUOR STORE actually are…I think they kind of sound like being inside the mind of a serial killer…add endless guitar riffs, New Jersey and drugs and maybe that comes close. This video of them at Wild Kingdom in Brooklyn shows a slightly more subdued side, “Titty was Loc’d” is a song that will be on their next album, to be released on ALMOST READY RECORDS this summer.
