I’m sure you know by now that the new JACUZZI BOYS album will be out in September (HARDLY ART), and hopefully you’ve heard the ultra dreamy first single, “Double Vision”, which is currently available for PURCHASE. If not, you might be in for a bit of a surprise if you’re familiar with JB’s older stuff…The days of simple lo-fi garage rock screamers seem to be drawing to a close, or maybe a better way to look at is that they’re building on that, adding details and layers, re-developing their sound to bring something new to the masses. “Double Vision” feels more like a heatstroke hallucination (something I encountered a lot this week as I foolishly wandered the streets of a 100 degree Manhattan), hazy and less abrasive than anything we’ve heard from them before. However, this doesn’t mean they’ve turned soft on us, as the video for this song proves. A gang of derelict neon-clad prostitute-looking girls meet in an underground lair, swilling booze and swinging weapons, an old man gets carjacked, but everybody is creepily happy in the end. WATCH IT!
