This band fucking rips. HOLOGRAMS is from Sweden and they play a detached, anthemic early 80s pop that is heavily informed by post-punk and punk era pop. It’s easily the best music of its kind I have heard in quite some time. The guitars and rhythm section batter along on most tracks., The vocals play it cool, and the synth serves a number of roles in the music, always tastefully. Stripped down, definitely retro sounding, but modern at the same time. That old trick. One of the toughest to pull off, but pull it off they do. CAPTURED TRACKS put out a full length a little while ago, and a 7″, and this band is way better than anything they’ve put out in a while. This guys even manage guitar solos in their well done mixture. HOLOGRAMS, Stockholm mid tempo downer stomp YES.
