ANTIBALAS AFROBEAT ORCHESTRA are a Brooklyn-based collective dedicated to bringing the funkiest afrobeat grooves for the past decade. Formed in 1998 along the lines of Fela Kuti’s Africa ’70 band, the group sound is not confined to its roots but incorprates jazz, funk, dub, afro-latin percussion into an improvised orgasm of polyrhymic exuberance. Here they perform ‘Sáré Kon Kon’ from their new album Antibalas, live on WFUV. See them live this Thursday at the Paradise along with Boston’s best ethio-groovers DEBO BAND.
