Rose Melberg needs little introduction to anyone who has been interested in the world of indie pop music sometime in the 2 decades. Her time spent in monumentally wonderful musical crews such as TIGER TRAP and THE SOFTIES has essentially made her a legend in circles that get down with K RECORDS and SLUMBERLAND RECORDS. I am indeed a fan and was lucky enough to have hosted a show for Rose previously as part of the North East Stick Together festivals I was involved with putting on in the mid-00s. Rose’s current pop unit is known as IMAGINARY PANTS and it finds her playing and singing in a duo with John Manning. She hasn’t traveled far from the sounds that gained her a cult following and we all thank goodness for that. A 7″ that you can listen to below comes out in mid-June on Long Island’s ROK LOK RECORDS. “Channels” is a beautiful melancholy strummer that allows the duo’s melody to float along just above the ground as a wandering synth attempts to hide behind the sparse arrangement.
