The Woolen Men are a Portland, OR band playing garage-y indie rock. Influences can be seen from things like 60s pop and early 90s indie rock, but these influences don’t feel stale or derivative. The driving drum beats, guitar hooks, and vocal melodies show The Woolen Men’s aptitude for crafting catchy rock ‘n’ roll all their own. With releases on great labels like Gnar Tapes and drummer Raf Spielman’s own Eggy Records, the band has built a strong back catalogue. Their newest release, a self-titled lp on Woodsist (a reissue of a self-released tape from a summer ago), is one of their finest. Stay tuned for more from this band and its members’ various other projects. Related bands worth checking out: The Polyps and The Golden Hours.
