From the mind behind Northampton’s COLOR RABBIT and STROBE HORSE, among others, comes Paper Tiger. Paper Tiger utilizes the pop elements of Strobe Horse, calling for adjectives like experimental and psychedelic and featuring dreamlike lyrics. The songs are reminiscent of bands like CARIBOU or ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, exuding an earthy feel to electronic pop. The end result is something akin to the neo-psychedelia of the 90s, but with a greater focus on aural textures. Paper Tiger could easily fit in with the Elephant Six family. The debut album is currently available on bandcamp, and will be coming out later on as a cassette from CRASH SYMBOLS. I am unaware of Paper Tiger’s status as a live band, but Color Rabbit and Strobe Horse do make the occasional live performance, so get on out and feel the vibes.
