I’ve been writing about a lot of SLOVENLY related things lately, this label continues to deliver amazingly unique punk and garage releases, and the upcoming MOUTHBREATHERS is no exception. This band kind of reminds me of the sort of thing you’d hear playing in the background of a seedy bar in a Tarantino movie. Surfy in all the right places, jangling guitars, a sometimes psychedelic atmosphere and a punk attitude is what you get with these Lawrence, Kansas rockers. I would maybe put MOUTHBREATHERS in the same weird non-category as I put JACUZZI BOYS, interesting-well crafted-different-weird-exciting sounds. Buy this EP from Slovenly first thing tomorrow morning and look for their LP on IN THE RED soon.
