Sometimes you look away for a minute and wham some shit blows up. And I am intensely looking right now at Hassle pal, and former Bostonian GOBBY. Man made some racket in these parts as Rene Netherlands and/or Guatemala City some time just around a very nearby bend in the past. And now as GOBBY he’s making it happen NYC style with the likes of the very cool MYKKI BLANCO. And he is of course releasing his own tunes, his own truly messed up pop-tastic blends of electronic music then and now. Below we have some stream-age of GOBBY’s ABOVE GROUND which came out last year on UNO NYC, as well as a track called “Trans.09” from a new EP called LANTERN, also out on UNO. “Trans.09” starts out all creaking electronics and then rolls into a blast of melting footwork that is a further tweak of that already tweaked stuttering magic. Give it a listen, and know that GOBBY is out there watching. Waiting. Manufacturing beats like a creep.
