Dane Chadwick has been active in the LA music community for many years now, drumming for bands like Abe Vigoda. Lately he’s turned his attentions to the dancefloor, melding Chicago footwork with California synth funk sheen. His debut full length Cool Intentions, released off the excellent Astro Nautico, captures the balance of these two influences with a nonchalance and ease inherent in the west coast. Rapid fire rimshots bounce frenticly upon funky basslines, waves of synth cascade across a deep cavern in echoing sparkles. Toms dance and drums fade out of synch, the rhythm takes hold and the aquatic sonic flora flow. Roll down the window and let this take you down that road by the beach.
