CHOOK RACE is from Melbourne. They have the whole primitive jangle rock/VU/frat rock kind of thing going on that the Australians have been crushing in the 2010s, and as a fan of the style I am very pleased with what I am hearing. The CHOOK RACE 7″ came out earlier this year and if you are into unadulterated, joyful and poppy garage pop then you have found a new love. The 7″ highlight is the middle song of three offered with some co-ed vocals floating above the thumping drum break. When they come to America we’ll be making sure they hang a right to Boston if at all possible.
