Get down with this ripper from Australia’s BRAT FARRAR. BRAT FARRAR is a late 40’s crime novel, in addition to being the chosen moniker for Sam Agostino, who thought that playing solo under his own name would be too weird. Previously involved with a slew of trashy garage bands, Agostino toyed with the idea of writing and recording pop songs, by himself, using modern technology to do so which he describes as being a “novelty”. The latest track “Burn Everything Down” is one of those songs that I can’t quite wrap my head around, but I know there’s something I like about it. I am perplexed as to why this reminds me of the weird underground grunge shit I was into in the early 90s, but it also screams punk to me too. Live performances aren’t done solo (he has a bass player and drummer, two brothers I believe) and they don’t sound a damn thing like the recordings. SEE for yourself, and give this song a listen. This is BRAT FARRAR’S debut US release, out on TOTAL BS records, whose only other release is a BAD SPORTS 7″. Confused? Me too! So what?!
