Your Body Changes Everything (Boy Harsher Remix) – Perfume Genius

Boy Harsher have got you covered if dark brooding dance music is your thing. For this track, the western-Ma based electronic duo remix a Perfume Genius song which is as unexpected as it is well executed. To be truthful, we thought Perfume Genius’ 2020 album ‘Set My Heart On Fire Immediately’  was just ok, but since the release we have warmed up to the album. So, Boy Harsher’s remix of one of our favorite songs from the album is like a cherry on top.

Boy Harsher’s remix of ‘Your Body Changes Everything’ appears on ‘Immediately Remixes’ a collection of remixed songs from the Perfume Genius’ 2020 album ‘Set My Heart On Fire Immediately’. Which in our not so humble opinion, you have to listen to immediately.

non- – Two Archers

non- is a project of Jack Whelan of SEED, Dazey and The Scouts/ Dent fame. non- is doom and gloom even when the sun is up: there is a slight softness, perhaps vulnerability in the fast paced death metal sound. ‘Two Archers’ is Boston in brutal gothic form. While it is a small gift from Jack Whelan’s catalogue it is a worthy gift.

Selofan – Partners in Hell

The state of the world is pretty bleak lately. Some people cope by listening to Woody Guthrie, some folks Slayer, some folks Charlie Parker.

For the past few months, we have been coping by listening to Greek macabre electronic duo Selofan. Joanna Pavildou and Dimitris Pavlidis have placed another release on their shelf with October 2020’s ‘Partners in Hell’. If Selofan was compared with Boy Harsher, Selofan places more emphasis on pop song structure and leaves the dance instrumentals at the backdrop of Pavildou’s sweeping vocals. Boy Harsher places the beats and synths front and center and leaves everything else to drape around a dance-based musical altar.

Selofan’s ‘Partners in Hell’, off Frabrika Records is one of our favorite releases of 2020 and will live long in my memory of music we listened to while in a global pandemic.
