London just won’t stop spitting out great punk releases recently, and new group Frau are next in line with new material coming out this year following this killer demo. Apparently they share members with the mighty Good Throb, who’s album “Fuck Off” has rightfully blown some minds this year. Frau have a similarly raw, rickety, and furious sound, but they seem to have more of a bass-driven post-punk element to their songs. Think a more punk, explosive take on classic British DIY post-punk along with influence from The Fall and Crass. It’s a fresh sound, with angular, noisy shards of guitar floating over the busy bass and unique, heavy, and loose drumming. And over all this, the frontwoman spews caustic bile in a striking vocal performance. If you’ve dug the aforementioned Good Throb or lo-fi DIY punk music, then this is a must hear. Pick it up from Tuff Enuff Records.
