Shokuhin Maturi just woke up from the dark, feverish slumbers of his recent Hamakko EP and he is READY to PARTY. Homie Foodman just dropped this exuberant little piece of rhythmic seizures called the oiss EP. It practically sounds like a Summer DJ set. Joyous from start to finish, with enough brainscratchers for the intellectuals to get all huffy about.
Opener “a a a a” is definitely in the twisted, abstract category, but still shines with vowel-slicing delight. From then on out, Maturi drops broken beat after beat. Standouts include “minzoku dai idou,” which floats over an unnecessarily cool rhythmic onslaught, and “mirai no gohan”. The latter is in some straight up tropical mode – like a bizarro world equatorial rave.
Look, I just got back from vacation, so I might be stuck in a sunstroke, but whatever. Foodman coming at it strong. Nonstop party for sure is what’s up.
