(12/16) PREVIEW: INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS (2013) DIR. JOEL & ETHAN COEN @BRATTLE

by

Okay, given that posting this might ruin my own chances at attending, I still think it’s necessary to invite you to this event. Today, at 7PM, The Brattle Theatre will be screening the Coen Brothers’ new film, INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS. And guess what? It’s totally FREE. Zero cost to get early access to the latest project of two masters of cinema. All you have to do is show up early, brave the cold, and hope you get in.

– John Goodman’s being hella wise right now.

The film follows Llewyn Davis (Oscar Isaac), a folk singer in 1960’s Greenwich Village (the Coens, as always, get super hot & bothered when they get to make period pieces). Llewyn navigates the difficulties in both his career (who would have guessed that musician’s can’t afford much) and personal life (he knocked up Carey Mulligan – who looks absolutely stunning in the movie). Come for the story, a really f–ing cute cat, a soundtrack of live music that is guaranteed to please, Justin Timberlake being a “serious” actor, and the always lovable Coen favorite, John Goodman, at his best.

– Carey really, really wants you to come!

If you’re able to attend, I’ll be there if you want to chat about the film once it’s over. Also, if you get there before me, save me a spot!
