The Fagettes are one of those Boston bands that I always take for granted, and then I listen to pretty much any of their music and wonder why I don’t make more efforts to catch them live. “Gonna Die Out Here” is just another example of why I — and you, too — need to check out this band more often. This trash can garage banger starts with a simple drum beat and guitar phrase, then moves on to a catchy little give-and-take between vocalists before moving on to the main chorus, an upbeat verse which, upon hearing, will likely be stuck in your head for the next couple of days. Stream it below!
The Fagettes are awesome because they embrace buoyant melody whole-heartedly without being too saccharine, and they make performing a tight set of sick tunes look like a breeze. Not to mention, this particular tune is recommended listening after that killer cold snap we just endured—gonna die out here/Somebody let me in!
The Fagettes will be at Charlie’s Kitchen this evening as well—so be at Harvard Square or be… sad.
