I am beyond excited to present to you the new and very first video for the DOT WIGGIN BAND. And beyond that to tell you that we will be having them as our guests @ HASSLE NIGHT APRIL to be held on 4/5 @ Lilypad in Inman Square, Cambridge. Dot Wiggin is of course none other than the lead singer and songwriter of THE SHAGGS. THE SHAGGS. You must know THE SHAGGS. Out of Fremont, NH they came, and in Revere, MA they recorded. 1969. PHILOSOPHY OF THE WORLD. The 12 finest teenage demento-rock songs ever committed to tape. The purest rock n’ roll spirit unleashed from New England this side of Jonathan Richman. All of it predicted via a palm reading THE SHAGGS’ grandmother performed on THE SHAGGS’ father when he was a teenager. Get to know this marveled trio of sisters and their music.

And look at this. After 40 years DOT WIGGIN has emerged to front a new band! And they have recorded an album called READY! GET! GO! that has been released by Jello Biafra’s ALTERNATIVE TENTACLES label. The album contains new recordings of previously unrecorded SHAGGS’ songs, and new songs written by Dot. “Banana Bike” comes from READY! GET! GO! and now there’s a video for the song featuring animation that tells the story of the titular banana bike and the girl who loves it. Dot’s new band is not THE SHAGGS by any stretch of the imagination, but whoever the band is gets enough about what makes Dot and her old band with her sisters so wonderful, that everything sounds right to me. If you’re getting down to the likes of HAPPY JAWBONE FAMILY BAND or FREE PIZZA in Boston then these askew garage pop rockers and ballads are probably going to work for you. Very exciting to hear new music from Dot.
