Donato Dozzy follows up a year of fine, fine techno with a new, focused, and vivifying release of detailed remixes, aimed completely at restructuring a single track from Philadelphia-based musician Bee Mask (born Chris Madak). Dozzy and Madak were both featured performers at last year’s Labyrinth festival in Japan. After meeting, Dozzy was commissioned to remix “Vaporware”, a side-long track from a recent Bee Mask 12″. The Italian techno-wizard felt so compelled by his project that he ended up turning in seven separate remixes of the track.

Most of Dozzy’s interpretations don’t veer too far from the sublime, with some dipping into the noisier territory occupied by Madak in some of his work. “Vaporware 05” offers one of the best examples of aural fusion accomplished on the disc. Dozzy keeps the relentless build of the original while slowing down the bpm and exploring the expansive interior hinted at by Madak. The double LP is available now from Spectrum Spools.
