Dimples – Whimpers

by

Some mysterious, metaphysical jangling psych-folk courtesy of Greg Hartunian and Colby Nathan, that restless wanderer we know from HYENA, (NEW ENGLAND) PATRIOTS, etc. This is music that is bone dry and sopping wet all at once. Not sure if I’m sitting on a porch on an island off the coast of Maine in spring, or waking up in some dusty, forgotten place over there on the California/Nevada border. Now legal drugs call to me. I’ll probably answer.

Dual vocals and their enigmatic guitar travel companions drift off, barely tethered to these songs by barely there beats. Ethereally infused in the language of a SKIP SPENCE, and the lesser known members of the acoustic outsider coalition, this is simple captivating music. To comment just a bit further in currently, culturally, pertinent terms, DIMPLES’ music also conjures memories of the work of JULEE CRUISE, for me at least. Take these lonely, lurching recordings for a spin next time you go for a walk in the woods alone, or for a stroll along the shore at dusk. Out now courtesy of the cooperation of the following fine labels: Nicey, Feeding Tube Records, Laughable Recordings and Dontrustheruin.
