DEAR ELOISE- FAREWELL TO SUMMER

by

FAREWELL TO SUMMER seems like a fitting title for the dreamy pop sounds of DEAR ELOISE‘s latest album. It calls to mind the end of a long day in the sun as breezy energy melts into an ethereal buzz. The faded electronic sounds of each track created by low-fi recording enhance that feel.

The album begins with light and hazy tracks. I STILL BELIEVE is particularly meditative. As the album progresses, the songs show slightly more edge, but even in ROOM and ABOUT THE WORLD THAT BEHIND LIGHT, abrasive intros eventually mellow out. The final track on the album is the most aggressive, as strong static sound threatens to completely overtake bare, haunting vocals. Yet even as the energy grows throughout FAREWELL TO SUMMER, it never breaks the sunny trance it puts you in from the start.

The Beijing duo DEAR ELOISE has been together since 2008 and released FAREWELL TO SUMMER with Chinese label MAYBE MARS.
