It starts, and instantly, weightless. So many of my favorite projects recently begin with this groundless stance – the rug is pulled out before you even slip on the floor; vaudeville afterthought, reflective humor. Dalglish starts from the ending, after the fall, searching bruises for a videotape of the event. Chris Douglas was an early practitioner of IDM (especially as O.S.T.), so his post-post-vision is built from experience.
Douglas’s Dalglish project follows up an excellent release on the PAN imprint with the inaugural release on Ge-Steel, a new label in based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Dorcha Aigeann seethes with a manicured intensity, broken machines tumbling around an empty center. Voices, human urges, but no orientation towards power. Decentralized drone.
