In the chill zone garage pop via Portland, OR is what’s on our plate right here. Mid-tempo punk pop ditties do it for me all day long and PSYCHIC FELINE are on my radar. There’s a new 7″ out from this bunch on WATERWING (who we’ve written about several times recently). Culprits of pop simplicity these guys toss off a jammer like “White Walls” like it’s nothing. A little melody, a breakdown, some nice stomping action and it’s over. The flip side maintains the mid-tempo groove, sans vocals. Preceding this new 7″ there were similar cool sounds to be heard on the self released(I think) Blood Dolphin 7″ from last year. “Vampires” is the stand out on that one fufilling many psych/power-pop dreams. Maybe these guys toured near Boston last month? Did we somehow miss them?
