No one can say eff off to the experimental music poseurs quite like Ian Svenonius of Washington, DC’s Chain and the Gang. A sweetly scuzzy pop song, “Experimental Music” is a sarcastically simplistic ode to the greatness of vaguely defined “experimental music”.
“They don’t care about tune or melody! They care about bein’ free…they don’t care about whims of the marketplace!” croons Svenonius, gleefully. Starring both Svenonius and a mysterious “experimental” musician wearing a comically large hooded robe and wrestling with a mass of wires, a mixer, and a MacBook, this video will be hilarious to underground music devotees. As for others? It might just be as puzzling as experimental music itself.
