(2/13 – 2/15) CASABLANCA (1942) DIR. MICHAEL CURTIZ @BRATTLE

by

You must remember this: CASABLANCA has something for everyone, at every stage of life. Whether you’re a teenager brushing up on your essential film education or a world-weary romantic, this iconic drama promises to stay with you. If somehow you’ve never seen it, now’s your chance. Too many famous lines to quote here (though one of its most famous, “Play it again Sam,” is actually a mis-quotation), the intrigue of war, the passion of ill-fated lovers, and a rich, half-century history of screening for Valentine’s at the Brattle; there’s a reason CASABLANCA screens year after year, to audiences as eager as if they’re seeing it for the first time.
