BONG WISH – “In The Flesh”

by

And so begins my round up of throwing some text @ some of the folks who are playing the NEU MF 14′ (that’s the New England Underground Music Fest to those of you thus far uninitiated). I will especially be bent upon throwing some words @ performers who have received little or no write up coverage here on the website. BONG WISH is one such group. We’ve definitely covered many a BONG WISH show here on the Hassle and in the Compass, but the ladies of the BONG have thus far eluded our desperate scrutiny when it comes to a solo profile.
THIS ENDS NOW!!!!
A trio of women, featuring members of FAT CREEPS and 28 DEGREES TAURUS, BW is doing the lo-fi, indie rock/pop thing as good as anyone within 150 miles of here (and better than many beyond that). Part of the reason it’s been easy to not write-up BONG WISH is that, as far as I know, they actually haven’t released anything in the physical form. There has been a slow trickle of digital “releases” on bandcamp, one song at a time, for a while now though. And this is what we will address here. The latest of these sporadic pop drippings comes in the form of “In The Flesh”, flung into the light of day at the beginning of the year. It’s a slight song @ 1.5 minutes, but it sticks to your ribs. Scuzzy guitars, unison vocals, ethereal drum machine. I’m a sucker for idiosyncratic pop music. Maybe you are too?
