A little ways back the always startlingly original experimental duo of BLUES CONTROL let loose with the “Summer Games” cassingle (via their own MANAGING EXPECTATIONS label). Two jams, one from the cutting room floor of a 2009 session, and the other a live recording. “Summer Games” finds these long time Hassle friends and supporters on their psychedelic game, pouring doses of dub down our ears. Synth riffage is established and then washed away by a battalion of effects pedals and a fuzzy guitar plenty willing to throw elbows. It is the kind of loose free form psychedelic jam that dreams are made of, and that BLUES CONTROL is well known for. You may say to yourself, “I know that synthesizer!” But do you? Do you really? This will temporarily keep me satisfied as I await the follow up to the band’s last full length VALLEY TANGENTS (which Chris Collins wrote up here). Godspeed grupa BLUES CONTROL, to wherever it is that you are going.
