After the Royals, Blind Dog is the best thing to come out of Kansas City in a long time. The band, featuring members of Cryogenics, No Master, and Nuke Cult among others, plays hardcore punk influenced heavily by British music. The most apparent UK punk influences here being Discharge and Rudi Peni – from whom they derive their name. Beyond execution, the thing that makes Blind Dog stand out from other bands mining similar territory is the snottiness oozing out of this demo. The blend of snotty punk and d-beat hardcore that isn’t unnecessarily raw serve to make this tape from Ciabatta Brain Tapes necessary listening. Blind Dog released not just one of the most essential demos of 2015, but one of the most underrated as well. They proceeded to follow it up with a live tape and a tour tape, so one can only hope big things will be happening in 2016.
