Marc Richter has given plenty of evidence for his proficiency in slow, brooding darkness. His Black to Comm project is seven albums deep and going strong – the last transmission we heard was the lovely EARTH. Now Richter has offered a deep, strong, and persuasive black pool of sound for the Dekorder label’s tenth anniversary picture disc series, which also features the impressive likes of Ensemble Economique, PAN-head Bill Kouligas, and Leyland Kirby.
Growling and machine like, “Providence” has one of the most bone-crushing drone builds you could find on the dark side of the Sunn. It is suffocating, evocatively textured for ultimate obfuscation. Even that chiming hi-hat you so desperately want to cling to is blackout out. Practically nothing remains.
“Providence” can be picked up/streamed eternally (or as long as the internet lasts) right here.
