Local band Bent Shapes started the night off at Lilypad (Inman Square) last Friday. Their heavy-guitar pop-punk songs were wholly enjoyed and made for an energized crowd. Following their act, Boston hip-hop duo Immigrants (pictured) took the stage offering songs in an alternative-rap style, a genre we don’t see enough at Hassle shows. Their conscious lyrics, delivered by Theory Engine, had the audience zoned-in while simultaneously being moved by beats supplied by mR. id. Next, Heaven for Real, visiting us from Halifax, brought with them a real fun vibe. Especially notable was the band’s enthusiastic drummer and their pop-experimental tunes. The show finished with CUFFS, hailing from Cambridge, whose songs took a more classic indie-pop approach and ended the night with a feel-good mood.
