Once again, Cleveland. Cleveland hardcore and punk consistently produces essential listening, and the new three-song 7” from Bad Noids is no exception. Paring down the sounds of their LP and previous 7”s even further, the band has achieved a sound I can only think to describe as a hardcore Urinals for people who find that band too refined. These songs are catchy, sloppy, crunchy, demented, simplistic, and absolutely necessary. Inmates are a big influence, here, and the guitar heavy vibes of that Clevo-by-way-of-Buffalo sound. Vocals have the warped quality of the Crucifucks or Larry Darvocet. The net result? – a lurching, stomping, tweaked-out but borderline lackadaisical punk. If you’re listening to what is coming out of Saucepan Records, you need to be listening to Bad Noids. Or vice versa. Or just listen to both.
