Powell has become my most consistent, reliable source of fresh tracks. It’s almost astounding to me—I’ve heard nary a dull moment in the man’s catalog, an incredible feat in the hyper-accelerating age of discography transcendence. There is something about his project, sense of unity, and openness to new sounds that keeps me transfixed. A narrow focus with an open ear.

It had been a hot second since the mind-numbingly good Club Music EP dropped (and its accompanying remix EP), and I was already jonesing. Thankfully, Powell took pity and dropped this fantastic Ancient Astronaut refix (or collab?) for us. Not sure who is playing the cards harder here, but Powell’s sound is definitely the one that draws the ears in: You’ve got your fake-out deep-techno intro; that noisy bass motif that morphs and bewilders at every corner; and, most importantly, an undeniably groovy beat to tie the whole thing together.
