It’s been a while since I have hyped something from the SPHC camp, and while Anal Butt’s first tape isn’t an SPHC release it includes label mastermind and Lotus Fucker vocalist, Kamikaze Dan. Also Pays Tribute To The Smiths is a reference to Penis Geyser’s A Tribute To The Smiths and sounds like that band at their most direct. Baltimore’s Anal Butt play fairly straightforward stop/start noisecore with count-offs and occasionally tracks that border on grindcore. This may not be one of the best noisecore releases of 2015, but it is definitely a highly enjoyable tape. It is a tape for those of you out there who thought Anal Cunt’s 88 Song EP needed more noise. Anal Butt has two split 7”s coming up on SPHC with Shitnoise Bastards and the almighty Cunts. Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming Sun Children Sun LP on SPHC, too, another Japanese band competing for the title of best band on the planet.
