CHRIS COOPER, he of FAT WORM OF ERROR/ WHITE LIMO, ex-member of famously strange/strangely famous groups like DEERHOOF and CAROLINER, laid done a sweet and spectacular set of solo electronics just the other week in our nice little burg of Jamaica Plain. Having set up amps all around the basement space, he plugged in, and treated the sizeable gathered audience to a sound display of a surround sound nature not often found outside of the gallery setting. I was transfixed. Someone else I talked to, a picky motherfucker, claimed this was one of Chris’ least far out sets. You be the judge. Here’s a sizeable chunk of his set that I started recording once I finally realized what I was missing sharing with you all. Sound quality is good, visual quality is abysmal (iphone). With Chris (and Jess) moving west, I hope this isn’t the last we hear live of this strange man Coop, but if so I’m glad the Hassle set up this show. We’ve had a very long relationship with Chris, and we know from experience that wherever he goes, it’s going to get a little bit weirder.
