Atlanta’s WYMYNS PRYSYN throw down some trashy, brash, not-quite-garage punk madness on this top-notch 7”. They whip up a potent mix of your classic blown-out garage punk (think Teengenerate, Rip Offs, etc.), the darkly melodic Wipers-influenced KBD punk that’s been big recently, and a touch of ripping early hardcore. “Waste Your Life” roars to life with a simple garagey riff and a tight groove, with the bass thumping out a first drone-y and then descending riff. Over the next three and a half minutes, the band absolutely tears it up, with spat-out and slurred vocals and balls-out instrumental thrashing working in tandem with more subtle melodic touches, including some killer tandem guitar and vocal melodies. The b-side, “Keep It Simple” is a bit more complex, showcasing the band’s dark melodicism but without letting up too much on the frenetic delivery. If you like your punk trashy, noisy, and melodic, then give this band a listen ASAP. Pick it up via Pygmy Records.
