Sungod is an Austin, Texas group that creates drone/psychedelic music with elements of krautrock, americana, jazz, and experimental rock. Much like Sun Ra, who is covered on the album’s third track “Exotic Forest,” Sungod is an attempt to achieve the cosmic, through expansive and fluid sounds. At times Vision Space feels like an uptempo Sun Araw, namely in the album’s opener, “You’ll Stay Where You Fall.” On the other hand, “Spirit In Peripheral Vision” sounds like a more dance-oriented take on Black Moth Super Rainbow. Each track has a sounds distinct from the others, giving the overall album the feeling of a compilation more than a studio album. The diversity does offer a compelling cross-section of Sungod’s sound, and prevents any one thing from growing stale. As of yet, the album is only available online, but a physical release is coming in the near future, in the form of a CDr.
