Young Thug — “Constantly Hating”

by

For Young Thug, “Constantly Hating” is not just a song title. It’s more of a lifestyle. A statement of purpose, even. The Atlanta rapper has plenty of highly-publicized beefs, including ongoing wars of words with the Game and fellow Birdman protege Lil’ Wayne, among others. In fact, his new “Barter6” was originally titled “The Carter 6,” which is a direct dig at Weezy, whose next album has been slow to materialize.

At any rate, rap beef is barely interesting at best, and then only when the rapper in question is actually talented. Luckily, Young Thug is one of the most talented up-and-coming MC’s in the game. His mumbled, half-sung flow is narcotized and laconic, but also completely addictive. His songs take a few listens to really take in, but once they’re rolling around in your head, they’ll be there for a long time.
