In the first two or so months of 2020 I helped run 8 shows, and went to see 3 shows others put on. That was it. So I’m gonna write about them all:
Fri Jan 3 Bettny Roze, Jake McKelvie, Lauri McNamara, Tyler Berd at Good Orneing in Worcester. First show of the year and it was a great one! Very grateful to get to do some chill shows at this house and people seem to enjoy it.
Fri Jan 10 Holy Basil, Sax Machine, Scare City at Rendezvous in Turners Falls. Always enjoyed this spot. This was the first show I booked there. It was a fun one! Big ups to the locals Holy Basil who always rip! Got my JD Sax fill for the year as well <3 Note: none of the bands had drums!
Sun Jan 12 Toads, Premise Beach, Moist Boy at Ralph’s Downstairs. A last minute gig for the greatly energetic Toads! Big thanks to Moist Boy for driving out on a school night to support!
Sat Jan 25 Strawberry Band, Funeral Cone, Rong, Alpha Error at News Cafe Pawtucket. I drove out to RI to see this show, maybe I went alone. Place was packed wall to wall. Killer gig. Great to see Jacob B back on the mic!
Thurs Jan 30 John Hays, Joseph Allred, Scare City, AD.UL.T at the Hotel Vernon Worcester. This was a great show. Always special when Joseph plays Worc. John Hays was sweet heart as always. After the gig we all did karaoke in the bar room.
Sun Feb 9 Scare City, Mitchel Violins, Nightowl Pete at Looky Here in Greenfield. It was snowing and the show went on! Fun intimate snowstorm gig! Again none of the bands had drummers. But we all killed!
Fri Feb 14 Wendy Eisenberg, Donna Geese, Eli Raczynzki at Good Orneing in Worcester. This was a very special gig. Three amazing performers. Many special attendees and once again a blessed house to host the gig.
Thurs Feb 20 Tetchy, Pet Fox, Bad Larrys at Distant Castle Worcester. Another very enjoyable night in the cold basement. Don’t remember minding the cold, only remember the sick bands. Thanks to Tetchy for helping get this one together!
Tues Feb 25 Vacation, Funeral Cone, Alpha Error, Scare City at Ralphs Downstairs Worcester. This was one of two shows I did downstairs at Ralphs towards the end of the world. It was a great one! Vacation was sick as hell, literally and figuratively. Big ups to Funeral Cone for helping Worcester draws for me since the beginning of time.
Tues March 3 Josh Miller, Styk, Premise Beach, Memory Lame. 2nd of two gigs at Ralphs and the last I would book for 2020. A great one! Thanks to these great bands for supporting a hard working tourer at this gig : )
Fri March 6 Laika’s Orbit, Moist Boy, Mystery Girl, Strange Fate at Dracula Holyoke. Took a drive by myself out to holyoke for this gig. Love all these bands but Strange Fate always steals the show for me ! Cool show space! Would return!
Sun March 8 Jake McKelvie, Bettny Roze at Nick’s Bar Worcester. Many many people crammed into the tiny cabaret room at Nick’s! This was a special show and I saw many special friends I haven’t seen since. Days after this gig we would all be cancelling any remaining shows and events we had booked onward.
2020 was sure strange. I definitely grew alot and had a hard time mentally on and off. The year allowed me a much needed break from booking shows, and also a much needed break from Social Media.
Who knows what 2021 is gonna be like but maybe there will be some shows? Who knows. See you on the other side!
