Tired of movies where LGBTQ relationships always seem to end in heartbreak? Sick of stories about queer peoples’ imagined tragedies? Looking for a positive, uplifting, and genuine representation of everything it can mean to be LGBTQ?
Being True is on its way to being that story you want to see in the world!
Being True is an anthology that celebrates LGBTQ life and identity, with works as varied as LGBT peoples’ experiences, ranging from fiction and fantasy to real life stories by contributors – “full of stories about hope, love, and happy endings.” Being True was created by local and international LGBTQ artists belonging to the Boston Comics Roundtable, which meets every Thursday night at Lesley University in Cambridge. You heard that right – a story about LGBTQ people actually written by LGBTQ people!
So celebrate pride month by supporting LGBT creators this June! The Boston Comics Roundtable is running a Kickstarter campaign from May 29 to June 28 to support the release of the anthology. If you want to get your hands on a copy, a 15 dollar donation to the Kickstarter campaign will buy you not only the book, but bonus – you’ll get your name printed in the acknowledgements! 10 dollars will get you a PDF copy of the book and a sticker, and even if you just have 5 dollars, you can still get a sticker (and add it to the collection you have going on your laptop so you can show everyone you support LGBT local artists!)
The funds raised from the Kickstarter will go towards printing the 85 page book and paying the artists who contributed to the anthology. To read more about this WORTHY CAUSE, visit http://beingtrue.bostoncomics.com
