“Off and On” is the lead track off Ah Really from Boston’s The I Want You, and the band was wise to kick off their latest EP with such a groovy song. A punchy bass line and dancey drum beat give this track a wee nu-disco flair, but combined with some sharp (though adequately fuzzy) guitar and vocals, the result is…something that makes my neo-new wave-loving, Franz Ferdinand-lyric-memorizing heart feel all aflutter. After all, it’s music that sounded like this that saved me from the Mainstream Pop Machine back in my adolescence. So do yourself a favor and stream it, won’t you?
