Hello Experimenters!
The heat wave is wearing me out today; so, I’ll be brief. The big news this week: we’re now on Discord! I’ve been thinking of ways that we can grow our community and learn from each other. I hope that this Discord server is a way for all of us to find more people who understand our practices and the songs we carry in our hearts. I can’t wait to see what all of you have to share and say.
One last thing: Boston area LGBTQ+ folks, Georden West is looking for extras for their forthcoming feature. Interested? Fill out this form.
In solidarity,
Gabby

Things to Do
Assignment: This month, I challenge all of you to make a film in two weeks. Your goal should be to make something you can submit to festivals/open calls in two weeks. Your assignment this week is to find your accountability person/group. These should be other people undertaking this challenge that you can check in with about their progress and share your own. If you’re feeling isolated from other experimental people, I decided to make us a Discord server! By next week, you should be prepared to enter the production phase–this idea phase does not count as part of your two weeks.
Journal: For Pride Month, we’re writing letters. Each Pride Monday, I’m going to ask you to write a letter to someone. That person can be living or dead, real or fictional. You don’t have to share this letter in any way, but obviously if you feel brave and open go for it. I want to leave you with the quote that inspired me to share this: “Letter writing is transformative. Letter writing is harm reduction” – Red, Survived & Punished
2) Write to a queer/trans elder. Remember their context. Consider the trails they blazed for you (yes, even you cishet folks). Tell them how they and their contemporaries softened the earth for your landing.
