It is so infrequent in this life that we thoroughly enjoy every precious moment. True love… so rare. Yet, for all of us, there is Connecticut’s Intercourse. If you’ve ever met me in person, I’ve probably forced you to listen to their music. You’re welcome.

If you somehow missed the memo, Interourse is Tarek Ahmed (vocals), Peter Stroczkowski (bass), Caleb Porter (drums), and Sean Prior (guitar). The group was born in 2014 and has gone through some line-up changes leading us to the foursome we know and love today. Dancing along genre lines of outsider hardcore and noise rock, every part of it impressive.
Unrelentingly vicious and intimidatingly smart, New England’s finest are currently in the lab cooking up for all of us their forthcoming release. A taste of which we got earlier this year with a ruthless two-track drop: “My Own Personal 9/11” and “George Soros Funded.” Fake allies and honest racists be equally warned. Master lyricist Ahmed is uninterested in taking prisoners in these brutal, politically-minded tracks attacking those on both sides of the political spectrum.
The tracks titles, on release, prompted a bit of a squabble on the band’s Bandcamp, which ended with a disapproving comment’s eventual deletion by its retreating author who, soon after posting, found themselves under siege. This is par for the course for a band whose name alone prompts adult content and solicitation flags on websites and social media.
The new tracks to me feel like a move toward chaotic hardcore, in juxtaposition to prior, more noise-leaning releases. I’m ready for more.
In addition to crafting the finest tunes in the land, the band has been hitting some fantastic fests. Although I missed them at Chicago’s Dreary North Fest, I caught every second of, and traveled for, their absolutely bonkers set at Minneapolis’ Caterwaul. I watched almost every set at Caterwaul and, though I’m incredibly biased, in no exaggeration Intercourse was hands-down the best received.
They also played the inaugural Spite Fest in Wallingford, CT. A delightful two-day fest featuring a beautiful collection of artists including New York’s beloved Couch Slut and Massachusetts cuties Chained To The Bottom Of The Ocean.
When they’re not together getting stuck waiting for rental cars on tour, the team spans many other projects including Infinity Land, Still Life Sounds, and Eave… a busy crew.
