At 23 years old, Tusneem Abuhasan, also known as Neemz, has released her latest single, “Awake.” From Boston herself, she has risen into the spotlight with her amazing creativity and unfailing unique talent, launching her career into the public eye for all to see. Truly an inspiration to women everywhere, Neemz continues to inspire as she shows her confidence in herself and her heritage, sending the message to the world that it’s okay to be different. After listening to “Awake,” I felt such a connection with Neemz. As awkward as it may sound, it was just as awkward for me. I felt comfort and solace because I wasn’t alone in the feelings of self-doubt and unsureness that I sometimes felt. The lyrics of her song let me know that it’s okay to be sad and it’s okay to cry. These are things we have to experience and push through to get to where we want to be. Things may seem dark and gray, and you may not be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You have to have faith and have the courage to push on, so you can achieve your dreams and shine like the star that you were meant to be. Never let doubt or negativity take your vision from you. It truly amazed me that someone else from a completely different walk of life has the same feelings as I did. It just shows that even though we are different, we also share a common connection with each other.
One of her goals was that she has always wanted to model for Nike. Not only has she achieved her goal, but Nike made her a hijab with their logo on it. Neemz has achieved an incredible level of success and fame by working hard and staying faithful to her set of morals, beliefs, and views while being proud of who she is and what she wants to represent.
