What to do when you’re young, bored, clever, and about to graduate high school with no idea of what to do next? For best friends and social outcasts Enid (Thora Birch) and Rebecca (Scarlett Johansson), the answer is pretty simple: move in together.
Of course, things so simple never are. Though Rebecca has found work, Enid must try to pass a summer art class in order to receive her diploma. While talented, she find herself clashing with her teacher’s idea of what art should be. Further complicating matters, an attempt at pranking a lonely middle aged man named Seymour (Steve Buscemi) through a personal ad goes awry when Enid finds herself connecting with him in a way she could never imagine.
Sad and funny in the sort of way only life just after high school can be, Ghost World captures the spirit of youth as it grapples with the specter of reality.
